Once upon a time
At the end of the great War my ancestors decided to settle
on the farm
Les Petits Chapelais in the heart of Brittany.
The weathercock that sits atop the barn has been happily indicating
the wind's direction ever since their arrival,
observing with joy the birth of twelve children...
The still evergrowing Simonneaux Family with 64 first cousins and over 100 grandchildren symbolizes the magic of a farm filled with children and the memories of generations. The weathercock with the cow overlooking her baby represents this atmosphere and the affection between generations at the farm.
Nathalie's twin passions, sewing and gardening reveals in her sense of style and design. She integrates these passions with her clothingline by the organic use of color, form and volume, all the while searching for harmony between body and earth. At twenty years old, Nathalie designed costumes for dance, theatre, the opera, Le Cirque du Soleil, and Le Theatre du Soleil d'Ariane Mouchkine. Now, she focuses on the children's and woman's line, using the freshest cottons, fleece and wools, in fabulous colors and with a vivid imagination. In an age of logo-crazy design, Simonneaux's work provides a whimsical counterstatement that champions the storybook essence of children at play : creative, free, in love with color, action and being cozy. High quality materials and original designs make the collections comfy yet chic, funky yet elegant, and colourful like Matisse's paintings. Children slip into the clothes mischievously, delighting in details such as pom poms, pointed hoods, patches, poncho pockets, reversible cuffs and collars, and colourful fringes that look like sprinkles on Christmas cookies.
